Chuck Eye Beef Burger

***Selamat Menjalani Ibadah Puasa Di Bulan Ramadhan Al-Mubarak ***
My Best Chuck Eye Beef Burger
It's the first day of Ramadhan and me and my baby made it through! HooYiPpeee! Little Baby was moving a lot during the day. Hungry maybe??? Well, I'm forseeing meself fasting for a month straight if this goes well. Insya'Allah! In fact, I'm happier fasting coz then I wouldn't feel the need to puke each time I had something to eat. Even a meare piece of digestive biscuit would make me run to the ladies to throw up. "Leceh seh..." (troublesome). The ONLY thing I yearned for just now was a packet of fresh strawberry HL milk. cheh...! "Tawakal bebanyak tadi folks..." (held my cravings). Got my milk for breaking fast eventually with two pieces of Dark Choc Tim Tam. So, I'm satisfied.
"B's" going for terawih at Masjid En-Naeem and I bought some rojak mamak to break fast first. Did the burger after "B" came back from terawih. I had bought some fresh Halal chuck eye steaks at Cold Storage earlier... meaning to make a nice steak for the both of us. But later dropped the idea flat and decided on this Chuck Eye Beef Burger instead. The beef chucks had been marinated and let to infuse all flavours for over a day. Of course you can't possibly make burger when the cut is still steak-like. So into the blender all the beef chucks went to with some additional ingredients to 'add' it up.
The burger was perfectly done and I can tell you it's one of the best burgers I had for quite a long while. Usually for a quick burger bite, the BK Turkey Bacon or BK Mushroom Swiss Burgers or Ramly Burger when we're at any pasar malam would satisfy me. Now... those two are no match to tonight's ultimate burger! I had it with a couple pieces of cheddar cheeses and a thin spread of DelMonte ketchup. Super!!! A good meal to start the Ramadhan going. So Little Baby, you satisfied now Mommy had made you a burger to break fast?!!! In fact, Little Baby stopped moving once I chomped down the Chuck Eye Beef Burger.
Ingredients for Chuck Eye Beef Burger
3 large pieces of chuck eye steak
1 egg
1/2 a carrot - roughly diced
1/2 an onion
All ingredients below pound in a mortar & pestle
1 tsp cumin seeds
3 cloves
1.5 tsp meat curry powder
1 tsp dried rosemary
1 tsp dried chilli pepper
1/2 tsp
black pepper seeds
1 tsp yellow mustard seeds
a good pinch of salt
extra virgin olive oil
Marinade method
Get all the pounded ingredients and smear all over the beef cuts and let to stand overnight. Take the marinated beef cuts and put into a blender with the egg, diced carrots and onion. I don't like my meat to be really minced up. So, I blended mine with some small chunks left. Heat a flat pan with some extra virgin olive oil. Wet your palms first as not to let the minced meat stick all over. Take a large fistful of blended meat and shape it in your palm into a patty. Made mine as huge as the square loaf bread you get at the supermarket. Hah! Put the huge patty into the flat pan over a small flame and let cook slowly. Prepare two slices of wholemeal bread, slice some cheddar cheeses and place the hot beef patty on top of it. Have it with a good slather of mayonnaise/ketchup/mustard/chilli/bbq sauces etc OR have the burger on its own in its own juices. Slurp...! Chomp down the burger with ultimate joy! Mmmmm...!
